At Smile of Hope, we are devoted to bringing light into the lives of children and families facing life-limiting conditions. We believe that every child, regardless of their challenges, deserves joy, love, and the hope of a brighter tomorrow.


Our mission is to support children and young adults with terminal illness, special needs, autism, eating disorders and those in need of heart surgery in India. Through essential care, uplifting experiences, and lasting memories, we strive to improve their quality of life and bring comfort and strength to their families.

Who we are

We are a local UK family and friends run charity who provide support and opportunities to children with life-limiting conditions or disadvantages. We identify problems within our community and establish links with specialist partners to tackle them.

With the help of our donors and sponsors, utilising our special partners, we provide life-changing support to children with chronic and or severe conditions. Additionally, we encourage and advance education and development through programmes like music, arts, craft & sport which are designed to be accessible to children with such conditions or in general need.

Our history

Smile of Hope started in 2012 when it was called Lili’s Smile and predominantly supported terminally ill children and their families who were using Little Haven’s Hospice services in Essex. Lili’s dad left the charity to be a trustee of Haven’s Hospice, so the name was changed to Smile of Hope in 2016. Since then, significant expansion has occurred and the ability to help children in various ways have grown.

Smile of Hope celebrated at Civic Awards 2026

The Royal Borough of Greenwich held the twelfth year of Civic Awards to recognise the work of unsung local heroes. The 2026 Awards saw 47 awards and small gifts presented on the night to neighbours, carers, leaders, to teachers, young people and sports achievers.  Smile of Hope (Steve and Sandra Roebuck): A volunteer-led support system for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses, working on fundraising and community partnerships was chosen as one of the winner in the Community Category.   Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, who helped present the awards, said: “Our residents truly are the spirit of this borough. I was proud to shake the hands of such incredible achievers who go above and beyond to support each other, who lift the spirits of the community and who ask nothing for it. 

Kings Park Newhaven Charity Visit

On Wednesday 12 November, Smile of Hope Charity, along with Marvin from Can Do Communities, arrived at King’s Park School with bags full of food donations kindly contributed by the community. These generous donations will help support our families during the festive period. The P.16 students enthusiastically helped carry the food into school, showing great appreciation for the kindness shown by everyone involved. Smile of Hope are also funding Marvin’s work with Newhaven School, supporting us in bidding for funds to get important projects off the ground. We are truly grateful for this valuable partnership. Supporting Children

We fund and support hospice families and their brave children who reside in them, providing practical goods, short breaks for those less well off. giving them some relief and enjoyment during their most challenging moments.

Music, Arts, Drama and Sport for Children

We fund initiatives for children to express themselves creatively and experience the joy and fulfilment of artistic creation and healthy living.

Operations for Children

Through our fundraising efforts, we provide critical financial assistance for operations and treatments, bringing hope and relief to very poor families who are facing challenging circumstances in india.
