Saurav's family's dreams were momentarily shaken when they learned that their unborn child carried a cardiac abnormality that would demand immediate attention upon arrival into the world. However, amidst the challenges, a sequence of timely interventions unfolded, weaving together a tale of resilience and triumph.
The journey commenced with a swift response at AIIMS Hospital, where the newborn was diagnosed with the critical condition. Guided by the expertise of Dr. Vikas Kohli and directed by their unwavering commitment, the child was seamlessly integrated into the Child Heart Foundation's (CHF) HRIDAAN program. This marked a pivotal moment in the family's quest for a healthier future for their child.
Though advised for immediate surgery right after birth, unforeseen family circumstances led to a delay in Sourav's medical procedure. Eventually, with the compassionate assistance of the CHF and Smile of Hope, Sourav underwent his first successful surgery at the tender age of one. The triumphant outcome marked not only the victory of medical expertise but also the victory of collective compassion.
However, the journey was not without its share of challenges, as young Sourav faced the need for yet another life-saving surgery two years later. In the face of uncertainty, the family found solace in the unwavering support of Smile of Hope, who once again stepped forward to provide the financial assistance that could make the difference between life and despair.
With the combined efforts of Dr. Kohli and the dedicated CHF team, Sourav embarked on his second surgical journey. This time, the battle was won with renewed courage, resilience, and the guiding light of collective compassion. Sourav's story underscores the power of unity and empathy in transforming adversity into triumph, and serves as a beacon of hope for all those who believe in the strength of the human spirit.
Saurav has just turned 7 this June.
Saurav's family said:
" We have extreme gratitude for both SMILE OF HOPE and Dr. Vikas Kohli, who helped us through the entire process; and to Child Heart Foundation, who guided and aided in all necessary procedures."
